Community of practice

Created in October 2013, the neighbourhood interventions community of practice and the CSSS community outreach interventions are coordinated by the CSSS-IUGS's affiliated university centre.

What is a community of practice?

A community of practice is a group of people who get together to share and learn from one another. [...] They are united by a shared interest in a field of knowledge and are driven by a desire and a need to discuss the problems or issues, experiences, models, tools, and best practices.

A community of practice enables community members to broaden their knowledge by interacting on a long-term, continuous basis, leading to the development of an overall set of good practices (Wenger, McDermott and Snyder, 2002).

  • Objectives
    • Here are the objectives to be met by the community of practice on neighbourhood interventions and in the CSSS outreach interventions:

      • Reflecting on the CSSS outreach interventions;
      • Appropriating the outreach intervention method in order to implement it;
      • Improving clinical practices based on the outreach intervention method;
      • Co-developing a knowledge transfer or learning transfer strategy.

Funded by CLIPP

The Centre de liaison sur l’intervention et la prévention psychosociale (CLIPP), in association with several Québec ministries, the affiliated university centres (CAU) of Québec and the university institutes with a social vocation, has initiated a project entitled Transfert des connaissances produites par les centres affiliés universitaires et les instituts universitaires dans le réseau de la santé et des services sociaux : pour une amélioration des pratiques et des services (transfer of knowledge developed by affiliated university centres in the health care and social services network: aiming to improve practices and services) (TRASSS).

Following a call for projects, four communities of practice were launched, each one focusing on a leading-edge practice in a CSSS, including the community of practice on neighbourhood interventions and on CSSS outreach interventions coordinated by the CSSS-IUGS affiliated university centre.
