In order to protect individuals who participate in research projects, the Health and Social Services Centre – University Institute of Geriatrics of Sherbrooke (CSSS-IUGS) sees to it that research projects which require the use of participants are approved by an ethics committee.
The ethics committees are composed of experts and population representatives who minutely assess the benefits and inconveniences of research projects on their participants. These committees make sure that the research projects will have little or no negative effect on the health and well-being of participants.
The ethics committees ensure that participants in research projects are protected.
- Participation in a research project is voluntary.
- Research project participants are protected.
- Participants have recourses.
Consult the full version of the Research Ethics section on the web portal of the CSSS-IUGS.
