Research led at the Research Centre on Aging (CDRV) has a direct impact on the quality and organization of care in the health network.
For example, SMAF, the functional autonomy measurement system, was developed at the CDRV and has been widely implemented throughout the network in Quebec. SMAF is used to evaluate 29 functions which cover: activities of everyday living, mobility, communication, mental functions and house chores. SMAF makes it possible to quickly evaluate the care and services requirements of seniors.
