Clinical Axis |
Laboratory
Work and studies under the Clinical Axis aim at preventing, screening, diagnosing, treating and discovering the causes of various age-related conditions. The research projects are also intended to determine the pertinence, effectiveness and impact of interventions on physical and mental health in order to improve the quality of life of seniors. Interventions may involve therapies, diagnoses or the use of technology. Researchers focus on the physical or mental health problems encountered in the medical field and which require the intervention of health care professionals - physicians, kinesiologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists and neuropsychologists, and so on.
The clinical axis groups together many research topics under divisions which factor in the physiological, physical and psychological aspects of aging.
Physical and metabolic division:
- Chronic diseases among seniors
- Energy and lipid metabolism
- Diabetes
- Obesity
- Sarcopenia
Adaptation and rehabilitation division:
- Geriatric rehabilitation
- Factors associated with deficiencies, impairments and disabilities
- Postural balance and falls
- Social participation
- Telerehabilitation
Psychology and cognition division:
- Neurodegenerative diseases
- Cognitive neuropsychology of aging
- Emotions and music
- Road safety
- Sleep and brain activation
