Innovating to maintain the autonomy of seniors
Welcome to the Web site of the Research Centre on Aging (CDRV)

The Research Centre on Aging (CDRV) is home to 30 researchers who work in a variety of scientific disciplines. The Centre also has 50 associate researchers and more than 100 people who are committed to research in one form or another. The CDRV is one of the most important centres on aging in Canada.

Work conducted at the CDRV can help us all - young and seniors alike – lead more active life and to adopt healthier lifestyles with a view to successful aging. The CDRV supports social initiatives at large to offer the best response to the needs of seniors and to offer them better services.

Research areas at the CDRV are very concrete and are applied in areas such as:

  • Nutrition and senior autonomy;
  • Cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases (i.e. Alzheimer’s), cancer,  endocrine dysfunctions (i.e. diabetes);
  • Processes and effects of sarcopenia (loss of muscle mass)
  • Home support in the context of an aging population;
  • Fall prevention;
  • Social and psychological vulnerability among seniors;
  • Telehealh, telerehabilitation and telemonitoring;
  • Driving and road safety;
  • Study of the biological mechanisms of aging and associated pathologies;
  • etc.

Our ultimate goal is to improve the quality of life of seniors and to help us make the right decisions throughout our lives so that we can age well in a healthy, autonomous manner.

Please do not hesitate to contact us.
Aging is a matter for all ages.
