Développement du cerveau humain : la part des eaux

Pr Stephen Cunnane a lancé le deuxième livre collectif qu’il a dirigé dans le domaine de la nutrition du cerveau et de la paléoanthropologie : Human Brain Evolution : The Influence of Freshwater and Marine Food resources. Au cœur de l’ouvrage : le rôle qu'auraient joué les acides gras oméga-3 dans le développement du cerveau, grâce à la diète riche en poissons et en coquillages des populations humaines installées au bord des rivières, des lacs et des mers.  Pr Stephen Cunnane est un spécialiste de renommée internationale dans ce domaine de recherche. L'ouvrage a été lancé à l'occasion d'une conférence qu'il organisait à Londres pour les 40 ans de recherche autour des omega-3, DHA Celebration.

Dans le cadre du concours de subventions de fonctionnement de mars 2010 des IRSC, le chercheur Dr Tamas Fülöp obtient un financement de 125 000 $ par an sur 4 ans pour un projet dans la recherche sur la maladie d'Alzheimer: Immune signatures predicting development and progression of Alzheimer Disease: impact of immunosenescence and Cytomegalovirus infection. À l'occasion de ce concours, Les IRSC ont financé 390 demandes sur un total de 2230  demandes à travers le Canada. Dr Fülöp est directeur adjoint du CDRV.

Large Grant for the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging

The Canadian Foundation for Innovation (CFI) will invest $25.5 million to finance the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging, which is steered in Sherbrooke by Prof. Hélène Payette.
